Thank You

I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone who checks out my blog. I hope you get some inspiration from my creations. I know I have lots of fun making them. And a special thank you to Karen for awarding me this Brilliant Blogger Award. Wow! I'm speechless.
Now I think I'm supposed to pass it on so.... this is hard, there are lots of great blogs I like to visit.... 20 minutes later, ok the award goes to Sam and Debbie, I couldn't pick just one.

Thank You so much.

Basic Backgrounds

On the weekend I had a workshop with Baby cards being the theme. So I have had lots of fun making baby cards lately. I picked the Basic Backgrounds stamp set because it is so versatile. This set will make great cards for Fathers Day, Christmas, Children, and of course Babies.
In the 'Welcome little star' card below, we embossed the star on vellum and then punched it out with the large star punch, which fits perfectly. We also embossed the word 'welcome' with white embossing powder to make it stand out more. The card base is stamped with Versamark.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Basic Backgrounds, Warm Words, Rough Edge Alpha, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Ink : Versamark, Bashful Blue
Card : Vellum, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Punches : large star, small & large oval
Accessories : White embossing powder, embossing buddy, heat tool, silver brads
This card was really fun to make, and I think it looks quite good.
Thanks Kristy for a great afternoon, and for keeping us toasty warm with your fire place.

Happy 1st Birthday

I can't belive it, my baby is turning one tomorrow. The last 12 months have gone so fast. We had a bit of a party for him on Sunday and he had a big nap right in the middle of it. We had to wait for him to wake up to do the cake. Again the amazing Maree made this giant Elmo for us. It has so much red food colouring in it. The kids and some Adults, were buzzing all afternoon.

Zach deciding which part to eat first.

Zach eating Elmo's eye ball. Yum!

I thought I'd try Kristina's colour inspiration challenge #16. The colours are gorgeous, even though I'm not fussed on pumpkin pie I do like how these colours look together. A huge amount of people enter Kristina's challenges so we'll see how I go.

Here's her blog http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/challenges/ which is fantastic, have a look.

This is my card for Kristina's challenge. The colours are Very Vanilla, Soft Sky, Certainly Celery and Pumpkin Pie. I've used the Boho Backgrounds Stamp Set with lots of circle punches. The ribbon is taffeta Very Vanilla.

Hello

While blog surfing the other night I came across a great card made by Diane Barnes,

www.dianebarnes.blogspot.com/ and I just had to have a go at making it. I really like how she used both oval punches, it kind of gives it a retro feel. I changed the greeting ( Outlined for Fun) and one of the colours. The colours are Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive and Ruby Red.

I love to use punches and always get excited when I find a new way to use one.

Thanks for the great idea Diane.

You're Invited

My gorgeous son Jamie just had his 7th birthday. He didn't have a party this year so I thought I would show you the invitations from last year. ( We did meet some friends at the park during the holidays and had a cake for him and his friend that is a girl, but not his girlfriend.) It's post card style, and in bright traffic light colours that was the theme of the party. I used the Eat Cake stamp set. The alphabet and number sets have since been retired. The colours are Real Red, Old Olive and Summer Sun.

This is a photo of the cake a very clever Maree made for Jamie and his girl friend. It's a very yummy dinosaur and was devoured very quickly. It was a great day. Thanks so much Maree.

Bye for now.

Mel's Button Challenge

I've had a very productive day today, I've caught up on all my blog surfing and finished the card for Mel's button challenge. www.melhanlon.blogspot.com/ Lucky for me she extended the deadline, thanks Mel. At first I didn't know where to begin with this challenge, so I pulled out a stamp set I hadn't used for a while. Looks like Spring. Then it started to come together. I used a very simple design with my favorite colour combination (at the moment) Kraft and Soft Sky. There is a button tied to the centre flower with linen thread and I inked around the edge of the large flower with Blue Bayou.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Looks like Spring, Stem Sayings
Ink : Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Versa mark
Card : Kraft, Very Vanilla, Soft Sky
Punches : Spring flowers bouquet
Accessories : Button, Linen thread, dimensionals

Christmas in July

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying the school holidays, only two days left for my kids then back to school. My computer has been down for the last week so I've had more time to play with my stamps. It's so awful not having a computer, I didn't realize how much I use it until now.

I promised my Aunt who lives in Darwin that I would do Christmas in July, so I hope she like these.

These are all using the Christmas Tree from the Fun & Fast Notes stamp set. The second two cards have the Dashing Designer Series Paper, which is great for a bright, fun Christmas. Ive coloured the trees in a bit with a blender pen and added ribbon and brads. The second card I've placed red eyelets for the baubles using the Crop-A-Dile. (Any excuse to use it.) And the third card I have inked around the edgers. The colours are very vanilla, real red, and old olive.
Enjoy the holidays.

Poppin' Pastels

My friend Julie, who's in the swap group, made this card using the poppin' pastels technique. I really like it. She used the Wanted stamp set, which is on my wish list. Funny how my wish list keeps getting longer, not shorter. Anyway, nice work Julie. Can't wait to see what you come up with for next months swap.
