So Swirly

Wow, this week is just flying by. It's Friday already. I went on a huge shopping spree earlier in the week and used all the gift cards I received for my birthday. So much fun. Two of my children had interviews for their new school for next year and baby Zach played up something shocking. He tried to destroy the principles office. As bored 13month old's do. And I made sure I fitted in lunch with the girls yesterday. My friend Sonya was able to come this week, it was so good to catch up with her. We just laughed & laughed. It's so exciting Sonya now has a blog for her Giggle Buttons business. So if you love using buttons on your scrap pages and cards or just want to have a giggle, just check out her site here.

Now the card I have to show you today was very quick and easy. I've inked the So Swirly wheel with VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Very striking on the Blue Bayou card stock. I didn't think it needed much else so I just embossed a flower and layered it on the scallop circle punch. And added a bit of ribbon and a brad. All done, easy.

I popped the scallop up with dimensionals.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : So Swirly wheel, Priceless
Ink : VersaMark
Card : Blue Bayou, Sky Blue, Whisper White
Punches : scallop circle, 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle, corner rounder
Accessories : white grosgrain ribbon, silver brad, wheel guide, white embossing powder, embossing buddy, dimensionals
Don't forget to use the embossing buddy before you emboss. It makes a big difference.
If your coming to the Stamp A Stack tomorrow make sure you bring your adhesive and scissors. It's going to be fun.

Happy Stampin'

Envelope Gift Bag

I really like this little gift bag, so easy to make. I cased it from Angie Kennedy-Chic n' Scratch . I've given this one to my niece, for her 13th birthday, and I popped a gift card in the envelope. It's hard to see but the envelope is stamped with the Paisley background stamp in Blush Blossom ink. And I coloured the white ribbon Groovy Guava.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Polka Dots & Paisley, Paisley background
Ink : Blush Blossom, Groovy Card
Card : Kraft, Groovy Guava, Whisper White
Punches : corner rounder
Accessories : plain white envelope, double stitched ribbon Groovy Guava, grosgrain ribbon white, brads, stamp a ma jig, dimensionals

Celebrate You.

Here is another card using the layering ink technique. I had a lot of fun making these. I used the Priceless stamp set and the In Colour blues. I'm going to give this one to my Mum for her birthday, today. I hope you have a great day Mum.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Priceless, A little birthday cheer, Everyday flexible phrases
Ink : VersaMark, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky
Card : Gloss white, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou
Punches : scallop circle, 1 1/4" circle, word window
Accessories : Hodgepodge Styled Silver, Double stitched ribbon Blue Bayou, mini glue dots, dimensionals

More Priceless

Here is another one. I made a whole sheet at once, then just cut it up to make lots of cards. On this card I used the square punches to punch out the shapes. I think it kinda looks like a window.

I got a bit carried away with the doodling on this card. And I have embossed the flower and the greeting with white embossing powder.

Enjoy!

Thinking of You

I had lots of fun playing on the weekend. I'd seen this technique before and had wanted to try it for a while. I don't know what it is called, but it's stamping in versamark then inking over the whole card (white gloss card) in a light colour then stamp again in versamark and ink in another colour and just keep going until your happy with the result. I did three layers. Each layer is a different colour. It works really well with a brayer. I haven't got a brayer yet (on my wish list) so I just wiped the ink pad across the card. In between each layer polish with a tissue. I was so happy with how this turned out I did a couple more with different stamp sets and colours. Which I will show you soon.

Recipe
Stamp Set : Petal Prints
Ink : Versamark, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Summer Sun
Card : White Gloss, Whisper White, Cameo Coral, Ruby Red
Punches : Large oval, corner rounder
Accessories : white grosgrain ribbon, paper snips, dimenionals, tissues

If you know what this technique is called please let me know.

My order just arrived so I'm off to play for a bit until I meet the girls for lunch.

Enjoy your day.

Merry - Jamie

Hi all, hope you had a great weekend. It was a lovely weekend here in Brissy. The wind stopped and the sun was out, not like today it's overcast and cold again. My feet are freezing.
This is a quick card I made for Christmas. I'll probably send it to a relie. It has a photo of my gorgeous 7 year old, Jamie on it. Incorporating photo's onto your Christmas cards are great to send to people you don't see often. The children grow and change so fast. I've used a red flower from the Die-Cuts Blooms (Spring Mini Cat) the star punch would work well too. I must make some.

Recipe
Stamp Set : Season Of Joy
Ink : Old Olive
Card : Old Olive, River Rock
Punches : 1 3/8" & 1 1/4 " circle
Accessories: DSP Dashing, Die-Cut Blooms, grosgrain ribbon Always Artichoke, dimensionals

I keep pressing the wrong keys, my fingers are so cold. lol

Stay warm.

Hide & Seek

Time for a scrap page.

These photo's were taken at the park on the school holidays. One of kids took the photos, I don't know which one, they were all playing with the camera and most of the photos turned out great. Rebecca was trying to hide from the camera behind some poles. I think they found her.

I've used the Designer Series Paper - Dashing, not just a Christmas paper. And the Die Cuts Blooms from the Spring Mini, layered with flowers punched out with the 5 petal flower punch. I ink around all the edgers with a dauber. And to finish off I added a bit of Hodge Podge Hardware.
I bent and curled the edgers of the flowers to add more dimension.

Ink : Real Red
Card : Very Vanilla, Real Red
Punches : 5 petal flower

So Kind

I hope you all had a great weekend. Wasn't the weather beautiful. Did you watch the Olympic games opening ceremony? It was so amazing. I did have a little nap half way through, as it was on so late, but woke up in time to see the end. My hubby took the kids to the EKKA on Friday after school, they had so much fun. I had to stay home, Zach is too little to go yet. (what a shame)

Now for todays card. I really enjoyed making this card, I think it's so pretty. On this card I have clear embossed with the So Swirly wheel and white embossed the butterflies from the Priceless set.

Mel's Technique Challenge

Mel's technique challenge this time is "Thumping Fathers Day". What! I have to admit I didn't know what in the world this meant. So I to jump onto Sptiltcoast Stampers to find out. I discovered that it is a technique where you "thump" two or more markers onto the stamp to achieve a very interesting look. I also discovered I did know of this technique, I just didn't know that it was called Thumping. I really love thumping because you get a different look every time. I thumped this poor bird six times and got six different looks.
I have thumped the poor bird with four colours, the background leaves with two colours and I even thumped the words. I have inked around all the edgers with a dauber for a soft old world look, then added a bit of paper piercing and a jumbo brad with ribbon. Gotta have ribbon.

Close up.

Recipe
Stamp Set : Always
Stampin Write Markers : Choc Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Not quite Navy
Card : Very Vanilla, Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel, Not quite Navy
Accessories : Crop a dile, Jumbo eyelet, Crafters Tool Kit, Daubers, Stamp a ma jig, 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon Choc Chip, dimensionals
I really enjoyed this challenge and I will Thump again.
Give it a try.
Have a great weekend.
