Happy Halloween

Today is Halloween. My kids love Halloween, even though it's not so big here in Australia there are still some Halloween events happening. We are lucky enough to have been invited to got trick or treating tonight. The kids are soooo excited. In order to receive you must first give, so we made these cute lollie pop ghosts to give out. This was Rebecca's (my 11 year old) great idea, and so easy to make. We made about 50 in total and the kids had so much fun drawing the faces.

I love this one Jamie drew of a Vampire Ghost.

I'll post some photo's tomorrow of us in our SCARY costumes.

Until then...

Be Inspired Challenge #29

The forth challenge for me this week is from Beate on her blog Fresh & Fun. The inspiration is from this picture, it looks so coozie. I've been wanting to try one of Beate's challenges for a while and this week I could. With Alex home sick I had to stay at home more.

The colours I took from this picture are Choc Chip, Kraft, Old Olive and for the blue I used Bashful Blue.

It's the same basic design as the card I made for Mel's challenge. (click here)

I used DSP Prints Old Olive and the Die Cut Blooms from the Spring Mini. The "happy" is from Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Polka Dots & Paisley, Everyday Flexible Phrases
Ink : Choc Chip
Card : Choc Chip, Kraft, Whisper White
DSP : Prints Old Olive
Punches : 1" circle, corner rounder
Accessories : Die Cut Blooms, jumbo eyelet pewter, 5/8" grosgrain ribbon Choc Chip, crop a dile, stamp a ma jig, dimensionals, paper snips

Until next time.....

KWerner Design Colour Inspiration # 28

Katrina's Colour Inspiration Challenge # 28 this week are the colours from this gorgeous purse. Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Sage Shadow and Whisper White.

Must go and pick up kids from school will finish this post when I get back.

Ok I'm back. I'm going to give this card to my other niece this weekend. So decided to use the same stamp set Big Bold Birthday, as her sisters card a couple of posts back. This time I used the present image. I coloured the chip board letters with the pumpkin pie stampin write marker, that was quick and easy. And I had to add some bling.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Big Bold Birthday
Ink : VersaMark, Pumpkin Pie, Sage Shadow, Ruby Red
Card : Pumpkin Pie, Sage Shadow, Ruby Red, Whisper White
Punches : 1/2" circle, word window, small oval
Accessories : on board lots of letters, stamp a ma jig, heat & stick powder, dazzling diamonds, dimensionals

The cards are all ready, now I just need a couple of presents before Sunday. Better hit the shopping center tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

Mel's Weekly Challenge - Colour

Isn't this picture breathtaking! That's what I thought when I saw it, then I thought how am I ever going to turn these colours into a card! These are the colours for Mel's challenge this week. (two down) Basic Black, Choc Chip, Gable Green & Whisper White. I think the Gable Green looks stunning with the Basic Black and it came together very quickly. Which surprised me, a lot. I used the Eastern Elegance Rub Ons from the Spring mini, love em. I did have a stamp set pick out to use but when I saw the sentiment "you are a breath of fresh air" I had to use it. And then I added some more rub ons and then some more and here it is.
Recipe
Stamp Set : none
Ink : Stampin Write marker Basic Black
Card : Basic Black, Gable Green, Whisper White
Punches : scallop circle, slit, 13/8" & 11/4" circle, 1/16" circle handheld
Accessories : Rub Ons-Eastern Elegance, 5/8" grosgrain ribbon choc chip, dimensionals, brad-certainly celery

Sorry the pictures not so good, I took about 6 photos in different locations and this was the best.

I thought would be the hardest of Mel's challenges, but turned out to be the easiest and the one I like the best. Thanks Mel.

Makeesha's Challenge.

I didn't get many challenges done last week, so I'm trying to make up for it this week. This first one was set by Makeesha at Inkspirations by Makeesha Bly and I've actually made two cards. The colours she choose are Going Grey, Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky & Whisper White. I'm not an orange person, but I quite like the Pumpkin Pie with this combo of colours. Because I have two nieces having birthdays this weekend I had to use the Big Bold Birthday set with lots of bling.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Big Bold Birthday, So Many Sayings (level 1 hostess)
Ink : VersaMark, Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie
Card : Going Grey, Regal Rose, Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Punches : 1/2" circle, photo corners
Accessories : double stitched ribbon Soft Sky, heat & stick powder, dazzling diamonds,
stamp a ma jig, mat pack, dimensionals, heat tool

I then thought these colours would make a great Halloween card. The "boo" is using the Jumbo Outline Alphabet set and I also used the Party Punch set (level 1 hostess) The colours are all the same I've just done a bit of tearing and used the round tab punch. It didn't quite turn out how I pictured it, but it's not too bad.

Thanks Makeesha for a great challenge, your right these colours do look good together.

Welcome.

I would like to give Angie Tye a big WELCOME to my team and the Stampin' Up! family. (I'm sorry I didn't get this up here sooner Angie.) Your excitement is fantastic and I think it's rubbing off on me. Now Angie has promised that she will enter my challenges so we can look forward to seeing her creations.
Angie I know you'll have as much fun as I'm having. Good Luck.

The Winner Is! Leah's Monthly Challenge #1

A very big thank you to everyone who entered the first of my monthly challenges. You all did such a great job. And I hope you enjoyed playing along. It amazes me how different each card is, yet inspired from the same picture. It was so very hard to pick a winner, (there all amazing) and everyone I asked in my house, picked a different one which just made it harder for me. Anyway.......

The winner is Kristy, YAHOO!!!! Fantastic card Kristy, I can tell you put a lot of effort into it.

Here are the other entries.

This one's from Kathy. (great card Mum)

And Natasha from Natasha's Creations check out her blog.

And here are the cards I made, not nearly as creative as these above. I just recreated the picture on card. What do you think!

Thanks again for playing and keep checking back for my Monthly Challenge #2 It's sooo yummy.

Another Baby Gift

Here is the baby gift I made for my cousin in Darwin. (Hi everyone up there.) She had a baby boy recently. First I made the thank you love note cards using the Outlaw DSP. Just like the other baby thank you love notes I made for Lola Mae, except in boy colours. Then I was thinking about how to package them when I saw this great love note gift box on Makeesha's site Stamp Your Art Out. She has a fantastic tutorial you can have a look at here. It's really easy to make. Thanks Keesha.

The flowers and rhinestone brad made a lovely embellishment for the top.
I've added a tinge of sage shadow to the tips of the flower.

See all the cards are held in place with the ribbon which also holds the box together.

And there is still space to add some booties or chocolates for the new mum.
Recipe
Stamp Sets : All in the Family, So many Sayings - level 1 hostess set
Ink : choc chip, sage shadow, blush blossom (cheeks)
Card : Sage Shadow, Choc Chip, Very Vanilla, Whisper White
DSP : Outlaw
Punches : scallop circle, 1 3.8" & 1 1/4" circle, corner rounder
Accessories : love note cards with envelopes, pretties kit, stamp a ma jig, grosgrain ribbon white & vanilla, dimensionals, crop a dile, dauber

Just one more baby gift to make for my next door neighbour.

Mel's Weekly Challenge - Accessory

Mel's Weekly Challenge this week is an Accessory Challenge, and the accessory she has picked is a Stampin' Around Wheel. Now I love the Stampin' Around Wheels, they are so easy to use and I can whip up a card really quick. And the Stampin' Up! Wheel designs are just gorgeous. So for Mel's Challenge I pick a wheel out of the Spring Mini, Boho Friend. The wheels are great for making a belly band but I thought I would use this wheel as a background. I used the wheel guide to get straight lines on the card.

These two circles at the bottom of the card are from the wheel too. I just punched them out with a circle punch.

And of course anything with dots on it I have to pierce.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : True Friend, Boho Friend - Wheel
Ink : Creamy Caramel
Card : Very Vanilla, Really Rust
Punches : 1/4", 3/4" & 1" circle
Accessories : wheel guide, cutter kit, dauber, mat pack, vintage brads, gingham ribbon caramel, dimensionals

Baby Tips Book

It must be Spring! There are babies everywhere. I made this cute little book for a wonderful teacher at my kids school. Who just had her first baby , so I thought a book full of baby tips and tricks might come in handy. You know, the things they don't tell you at the hospital or in the baby books. So I've got some other mothers to contribute their tips, between us all we've had a lot of babies.

The 5 x 5 On Board Art Journal was perfect for this book. I've covered it with DSP Spring Flowers. ( She had a gorgeous baby girl and named her Lola Mae) I've also used chipboard, rub on's and ribbon.

This is the inside cover. Telling her that no men are allowed to look.

Secret women's business.

On the pagers I have used many different lightly stamped, stamp sets. The tips and advise can be written over the top of the stamped images.

I had lots of fun making this book. I hope it will help to make this special time in her life a little bit easier.

Then I made a set of thank you note cards for her. She can gives these out to people who give her pressies for Lola Mae. And of course a Welcome Sweet Baby Girl card we all signed.
The stamp set used on the cards is All in the Family.
We got to see and cuddle Lola Mae yesterday, she is just beautiful, so tiny and soft. No I'm not getting clucky, four is enough for me. lol

Happy Stampin'

Merry & Bright

Doesn't the Real Red and Gold Metallic look great together. On this card I've used the Season of Joy stamp set again. I love this set you can do so many things with it. I've gold embossed the Christmas flower onto the vellum. Easy to do. Just be careful not to over heat the vellum. Then layered it on top off Whisper White card with the image stamped in Real Red and attached with gold brads. Then layered again on Real Red and then on the gold metallic card.

I also gold embossed the words " merry & Bright".

Recipe
Stamp Sets: Season of Joy
Ink : Real Red, VersaMark
Card : Real Red, Gold Metallic, Vellum, Whisper White
Accessories : stamp a ma jig, gold embossing powder, heat tool, gold brads

Happy 15th.

My very good friends daughter has just turned 15. Wow! I first meet them when Nadia (the daughter) was only 6 years old and I have been lucky enough to watch her grow into a beautiful young lady. So the card I made for her is lively, fun and funky with bling. Just like her.

I embossed the chipboard "1" in white so it would be all shiny, and blinged the "5". The photo is not real good. But it is very blingy. Is that a real word? Probably not. Anyway, I used the stampin write marker to colour the inside of the letters in "happy birthday".

Recipe
Stamp Set : Outlined for fun
Ink : Basic Brown, Old Olive-stampin write marker
Accessories : Die Cut Blooms (Spring Mini), On Board Lots of letters, embossing powder white, heat and stick powder, dazzling diamonds, heat tool, grosgrain ribbon Always Artichoke, dimensionals

Have a great weekend.

KWernerDesign Colour Inspiration # 26

Hi, Kristina has picked great colours this week. Rose Red, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White. And don't those cookies look yummy. As I was working on this card it just kept changing and changing, so the end result is completely different to what I had in mind. So here it is.
The rub on words say " one of a kind", like this card.

Recipe
Stamp Set : Priceless
Ink : Rose Red, VersaMark
Card : Rose Red, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Punches : scallop circle, 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1" & 1/4" circle
Accessories : rub ons - Cherished Memories, white grosgrain ribbon, white embossing powder, heat tool, buddy, dimensionals

Get Stamp-less.

I thought I'd have a go at Makeesha's challenge this week. Was I in for a shock! It's called Get Stamp-Less, that's right no stamping and no inks. ( Maybe I should have waited until next week.) But a challenge is a challenge so here it is....

I'm so lovin the Pretties Kit.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : None
Inks : None
Card : Choc Chip, Sage Shadow, Really Rust
DSP : Outlaw
Punches : 1" & 1 1/4" circle, scallop circle
Accessories : Pretties Kit-flower & brad, 5/8" grosgrain ribbon choc chip, mat pack, dimensionals

So I can make a card without stamps, but it felt really weird.

Mel's Colour Challenge

The colours for Mel's colour challenge this week are Real Red, Yoyo Yellow, Handsome Hunter, Basic Black and Whisper White. As soon as I saw this picture I knew I wanted to use the gorgeous bird from the Always stamp set. (spring Mini)
It's hard to see in the photo but I used Basic Black textured card stock for the base. I embossed the bird with black embossing powder and coloured in the pattern with stampin write markers. The ribbon flower I saw on Dawns Stamping Thoughts and had to try, it turned ok! I love it with the red rhinestone brad. I'll try the ribbon flower with glitter next time.Recipe

Here is another view finder card, love em. This one a birthday card, using the Bugs and Kisses stamp set with Tempting Turquoise and Pink Passion card and Petals & Paisleys DSP.

Thanks for looking.

View Finder Card

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. I took the kids to the movies yesterday to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua, the kids loved it and I even had a few giggles. Such a fun movie.
The card for today is a View Finder Card. I saw this on SCS and had to have a go. I had lots of fun making it, so we made it a recent workshop. Now it is a little bit involved but not difficult. So why not have a go! I used the Happy Christmas Mate Stamp Set which is a really fun set and watercolour paper so I could colour the images with an aqua pen.

Recipe
Stamp Sets : Happy Christmas Mate, Polka Dot Background
Ink :Stazon Black, Real Red, Old Olive, More Mustard, Creamy Caramel, Blush Blossom, Going Gray
Card : Water Colour paper, Real Red, Old Olive
Punches : 1 3/8" & 1 1/4" circle, 1/8" circle handheld
Accessories : Stamp a ma jig, White grosgrain ribbon, Red brad, dimensionals, Aqua pen

Just had a phone call, my cousin in Darwin had a baby boy late last night so I'm off to make a baby card and a gift. Can't wait to see a photo of him.

Have a great day.
